Studio Pod
Heritage · Studio Pod

Built by photographers.
Not by tech bros.

Studio Pod was designed by two working portrait photographers with 30+ years behind the camera. Every choice - lens, lighting, retouch, what "good" looks like - comes from the craft. Most competitors are tech operators who hired engineers to ship a box that takes pictures. The difference shows up at the surface where the photo is judged.

What the camera knows

Three things a photographer notices that an engineer misses.

Tech operators ship the box. Photographers ship the frame. Here's what shows up at the level the camera meets the face - decisions you can only get right after you've spent a decade screwing them up the wrong way.

The lens

24mm prime, not the kit zoom.

A wide prime gives the subject's face the same proportions a portrait studio uses. Tech-built kiosks ship whatever zoom the OEM hardware came with, which flattens features and distorts the head shape. You notice the difference at 1500px+, not the LinkedIn thumbnail.

The lighting

Multi-source · not one bright thing.

Our patented 8-tube DMX rig exists because a decade of corporate shoot days taught us a single light source puts shadows under every subject's eyes. Engineers pick the brightest light. Photographers pick the lighting recipe that makes 200 different faces look right under it.

The retouch

What to fix · what to leave.

AI retouch is easy to tune to "remove every blemish." A photographer knows that erases the subject. Studio Pod's retouch defaults were dialed by a retoucher who's worked on 50,000+ corporate headshots - and the option to escalate to human hand-retouching exists because the executive bio on the annual report doesn't tolerate a sloppy auto-fix.

By the row

Where the craft shows up.

Generic comparison: the typical tech-built portable-headshot platform vs Studio Pod. Each row is a decision we made because we'd shot the wrong version of it for years first.

Founders

Joseph West + Chris Bailey. Houston.

Two working portrait photographers who got tired of trying to scale corporate headshot days the old way - hiring a freelancer, schlepping a kit, losing a Friday to a single shoot. Studio Pod is the answer to their own problem. Every design decision in the system comes from a frame they've already shot 10,000 times.

  • 30+ years behind the camera. Combined portrait work across editorial, corporate, brand, and headshot photography before the first Pod was built.
  • 300,000+ headshots delivered. Real frames out of real Studio Pods. Not a forecast - shipped work.
  • Eight walk-in studios. The founders still take portraits in them. You can literally walk into the Blossom Street location and see the team behind the product.
  • The patented lighting rig. Invented because we'd shot too many corporate days under bad single-source setups and decided to engineer the way out.
  • The retouch pipeline. AI baseline tuned by a working retoucher. Human-retouch optional. Both decisions made because we know what the executive sees when she opens the gallery.
Next step

Talk to the photographers. Not a sales rep.

Most vendors route you to a sales operations person. We route you to the founders. If you're evaluating Studio Pod for a corporate program, a campus partnership, or an enterprise rollout - the conversation starts with Joseph and ends with the right form factor for the actual job.
